Sweet and Humble Beginnings
Our story begins in Betty Lou’s home kitchen over 40 years ago in the small town of McMinnville, Oregon. As a single-mom wanting to improve her kids’ diet, Betty Lou began creating wholesome snacks replacing refined sugar with natural sweeteners like honey and brown rice syrup.
With one of her young son’s having a wheat allergy, her recipes were crafted without gluten, long before gluten-free products were popular. Her first taste-testers were her young sons and their friends who loved these delicious and healthy snacks! Soon Betty Lou became the most popular mom in the neighborhood.
We are still owned and operated by Betty Lou, and she is joined by her now adult sons and extended family who work with her in the business.
From these humble beginnings in 1986, Betty Lou’s Inc., has grown from making healthy and delicious gluten-free snacks in Betty Lou’s home kitchen to our own gluten-free manufacturing facility.
Every day at Betty Lou’s we challenge the notion that healthy, all-natural, gluten-free products have to compromise on taste. Our motto “Just Great Stuff…and Plenty of It!” reflects the dedication that we have in the quality and taste of our products.

At Betty Lou’s we consciously choose healthy ingredients eliminating refined sugars, saturated fats, hydrogenated oils, and use no artificial flavors or preservatives. We select quality ingredients based on taste, nutritional benefit, gluten-free, and non-GMO. Our delicious products have been made that way from the beginning, and it's what we do best.
We still make Nuts about Energy Balls, our famous nut butter balls, as well as our popular layered fruit bars, powdered peanut butter, protein shakes, candy bars, crackers, nutrition bars, citrus-based CBD edibles, and a line of organic Just Great Stuff bars. Our Just Great Stuff bars contain novel and whole-food ingredients like organic cacao nuts, freeze-dried acai and raspberries, goji berries, mangoes, bananas, and even freeze-dried spinach, kale and broccoli sprouts.
Caring for the local community that’s been our home is important to us. As a company, we give back to our community supporting the Oregon Food Bank Network, annually donating over 1 million nutritious gluten-free products that help families across the state.
